How about bringing some of the outdoors in to your kitchen - Living etc style?
We like nothing better than taking some time out to enjoy a proper coffee and the latest edition of the luxe interiors mag Living Etc. (Find it at www.livingetc.com)
We’re particularly obsessed by the aspirational kitchens of course but there’s nothing like a tour round some of the incredible featured houses, a nose through the latest home style trends and a browse around the best home accessories in existence to make us feel both satisfyingly pampered and thoroughly inspired.
At this time of year (and with the current stay-at-home situation) we’re all about making the most of our outdoor space, but also finding ways to bring the outdoors in.
Our kitchen has gradually become home to a whole family of houseplants and they’re flourishing because of the amount of attention they’re getting right now. The sunshine seems so much brighter and the garden greener than ever - probably because we’re really noticing it at last… and that’s why Living Etc’s article on ‘Cool ways to bring the outdoors in’ caught our eye. Some of the more spectacular ideas are definitely the stuff of dreams but there are some lovely kitchen ideas which are a a lot more achievable - or transferable at least.
Incorporating greenery into your kitchen can be as simple as adding a hanging basket of herbs or a floor standing cheese plant…
but you can also influence the view from the kitchen with picture windows glass walls or bi-fold doors…and make it as gorgeously jungly or as perfectly pretty as you like. Blur the boundary between kitchen and garden with flooring that melds into a patio. Bring bright natural light inside with a skylight or Velux windows, add a collection of succulents on stylish shelving and create your own living wall or invest in an eclectic collection of planters and vases and create a showstopping botanical display.
We think incorporating the great outdoors into our kitchens brings life, vigour and a healthy vibe into what is the most used room of the house.
We love Living Etc’s ideas but if you’ve got ideas of your own for revamping or redesigning your kitchen and you need someone to help bring them to life - why not get in touch?
